
08 Mar Awise Wande Abimbola to Deliver 2023 Keynote
We are pleased to announce Baba Dr. Wande Abimbola as our 2023 keynote speaker for Crafted from Clay: The Body, (Dis)Ability, and Wellness in Africana Religions.
Baba Dr. Wande is a babalawo, professor emeritus, and holds the distinguished title of Awise Agbaye, or spokesperson for Ifa in the world.
He has been teaching since 1963 and earned his PhD from the University of Lagos in 1970 and the distinction of full professor of African Languages and Literatures at Obafemi Awolowo University (formerly the University of Ife) in 1976.
A prolific author, Baba Dr. Wande has been consistently publishing articles and books since 1969. Now, at the age of 90, he is working on his latest book and lecturing regularly online in a special series titled “Awise Agbaye Speaks.” He is currently the president of the Ifa Heritage Institute, which he founded in 2005.
We were honored to have Baba Dr. Wande as our keynote in 2015 and are happy to have him with us once again.
