02 Apr Yeye Luisah Teish to Deliver 2025 Keynote

The ADRSA is excited to announce Yeye Luisah Teish as the keynote speaker for our 2025 conference entitled “My Sibling’s Keeper: Comfort, Care, and Community in Africana Religions” to be held online on April 11. Yeye was the keynote for “Healing and Wholeness in Africa and the Americas,” the 2012 Harvard symposium that led to the formation of the ADRSA, and was also a featured speaker for our “Roots, Rocks, and RIngshouts” symposium in 2018. We’re thrilled to have her back with us for our 13th conference which will explore themes of community and connection within and across traditions.
Yeye Teish has been a priestess of Oshun, community-builder, teacher, and author for more than 40 years. This year marks the 40th anniversary of her groundbreaking book, Jambalaya: The Natural Woman’s Book of Personal Charms and Rituals, which was many people’s first foray into African and earth-based spirituality. The book has been translated into multiple languages and is now available as an audiobook featuring Yeye’s very own voice as narrator. She has also authored five other books, including a spiritual coloring book, has contributed to over 40 anthologies, has appeared in documentaries, and been featured on numerous podcasts.
Ever committed to creating sacred spaces, her latest endeavor is the Jambalaya School of Ancient Mysteries and Sacred Arts, a gathering-healing-learning sanctuary and cultural hub in the Bay Area, California with a focus on access to rare knowledge, spiritual healing, and land stewardship. The school is running a capital campaign and welcomes donations to their work via Yeye’s Temple Ile Orunmila Oshun.
We look forward to what we know will be a powerful keynote address! If you have not already, register to join us!
